A new temporary exhibition titled 'Selena From Texas to the World' has opened at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, dedicated to the Queen of Tejano music, Selena Quintanilla. The exhibit, which opened to the public this Thursday and will run until March 16, features stage outfits, awards, and intimate memorabilia of the singer. According to curator Kelsey Goelz, the exhibition is a 'small version of the museum in Texas.' The museum entrance is dominated by a mural by local artist Mister Toledo, portraying the most iconic moments of the singer's career. Selena's sister, Suzette Quintanilla, noted that the exhibition holds deep personal and emotional weight for the family following the recent death of their father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr. This is the first time personal items of the star, who died in 1995, have left the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi, Texas. 'When Selena passed away, everything took on a different meaning,' Quintanilla said. Among the iconic items are the white ruffled blouse, black leather jacket, and gold hoops worn for the cover of her hit single 'Amor Prohibido,' as well as the beaded white dress she wore to accept her Grammy for Best Mexican-American Album in 1994. The exhibition also includes the last microphone she used on stage, decorated with a white flower and stained with her signature red lipstick, and four decorative eggs from her collection of over 500.
